1996 · Founded

Member-led from day one.

Practitioners across Canada organized to set a national standard for workplace learning. The Institute opened as a member-governed, not-for-profit association.

Early 2000s · Credentialing

CTDP and CTP took shape.

Two credentials, peer-reviewed and rigorous. Certified Training and Development Professional, and Certified Training Practitioner, became the recognized Canadian designations in workplace learning.

Today · National reach

16 chapters, one community.

From British Columbia to Newfoundland and Labrador, members meet, present, mentor, and certify together. Bilingual content, national conference, Communities of Practice, and the only Canadian peer network in the field.

Kerry-Ann Douglas-PowellInterim Chair

Kerry-Ann Douglas-Powell (she/her) spends her days as a Director, Workplace Culture, at OCAD University. Before joining OCAD in October 2022, she was the Manager of Organizational Transformation within the Anti-Racism Directorate (ARD) for the Province of Ontario.

Kerry-Ann has almost two decades of experience in human resources, change management, learning and development, and equity within the private and public sectors. She has been a long-time member and volunteer with the I4PL, including serving as the co-chair of Membership Engagement (2015) and the Networking Committee Co-Chair (2016-19) for the Toronto Chapter.

As an HR professional, organizational educator, and change leader, she thrives on designing innovative learning solutions that allow people and organizations to navigate the chaos.

Kerry-Ann is a graduate of the Humber Colleges Teacher/Trainer of Adults Certificate Program and Toronto Metropolitan University’s Human Resources Management Program. She is currently working on attaining her Bachelor of Commerce part-time from TMU. In her spare time, you will find her mentoring and coaching current and future leaders, cheering on the Toronto Raptors, the Jays, and Maple Leafs, reading romance novels, and spending way too much time in the wee hours of the morning getting sucked into the wormhole we call social media.

Claudette Hutchinson

Claudette Hutchinson, CTPD, CPTD, ACCP/CAID, is a certified instructional designer and talent development, learning and performance professional with over 20 years of engineering transformative learning experiences for global communities. As a lifelong learner and volunteer, Claudette sat on various boards and held positions on multiple committees in the skill development space. She is passionate about transforming lives through the neuroscience of learning and education. Through her extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector and professional training institutions, she has profound insight into the unique challenges and opportunities of creating and delivering learning interventions. Throughout her career, she has designed and implemented innovative learning solutions that have positively impacted the lives of thousands of learners annually. From assessing technical content issues within existing course curricula to implementing best practices for course scheduling and accommodations, her expertise in learning engineering has proven instrumental in driving excellence and working efficiency.

Tisha Parker Kemp

Tisha Parker Kemp is a talent development executive and adult education professional with nearly 25 years’ experience in the end-to-end management of training programs, including 20+ years in the online learning space. Her audiences are typically professionals, executives, and business owners. She inspires people to learn new skills using proven strategies and current and emerging evidence-based methodologies for teaching/learning. Tisha is the Founder and Principal of shiftED Academy Inc., an award-winning training and consulting organization anchored in Halifax. Recognized for her leadership, she was also a finalist for Halifax Chamber of Commerce’s 2021 Business Leader of the Year Award and has been nominated for the 2024 Atlantic Business Magazine’s 25 Most Powerful Women in Atlantic Canada Award.

Andrea Khan

Andrea Khan is a leadership and talent strategist, executive coach, and advocate for empowering people to elevate their potential and lead with confidence. With over 20 years of experience in leadership development and talent transformation, she is recognized for building impactful leadership experiences that strengthen both people and organizations. Andrea is an ICF ACC-certified coach and founder of Elevate with Andrea, where she supports leaders in developing executive presence, influence, and authentic leadership.

Passionate about advancing women and emerging leaders, she serves as a mentor through organizations such as Dress for Success and Monday Girl. Her work is grounded in helping organizations build future-ready leaders, inclusive cultures, and meaningful pathways for growth. Known for her people-centered approach and strategic mindset, Andrea brings a thoughtful, modern, and impactful perspective to every initiative, partnership, and community she supports.

Bianca Baumann

Bianca Baumann is an enterprise workforce transformation executive, international keynote speaker, and co-author of Think Like a Marketer, Train Like an L&D Pro. With 15+ years leading capability strategy across Fortune 500 organizations — including Kraft Heinz, Citrix, and Novo Nordisk — she has impacted more than 150,000 employees globally. She advises C-suite leaders on skills-based operating models, leadership capability architecture, and AI-enabled workforce strategy. A featured speaker at ATD, DevLearn, Learning Technologies, and LEARNTEC, where she also serves as track curator, Bianca's central argument is that workforce capability is a business strategy — not a training program.

Candace Lauren

Candace Lauren is the Founder and Chief Learning Experience Designer at CLGC Consulting, where she helps large nonprofits transform fragmented programs into scalable, high-impact ecosystems. A Government of Canada preferred vendor in Learning Services, she partners with mission-driven organizations to strengthen program design, operational systems, and impact measurement.

With over a decade of experience, Candace specializes in leadership development, experiential learning, and program transformation—supporting organizations to move beyond one-time training toward sustainable learning embedded in real decisions and systems. Her work spans nonprofits, foundations, and sector networks seeking to scale impact and improve program effectiveness.

Candace also serves as Director of Programs and Strategic Partnerships for the Black Entrepreneurs and Businesses of Canada Society, leading national initiatives that expand access to opportunity for over 3,000 businesses. Her approach integrates strategy, design, and facilitation to build environments where leaders can act with clarity, confidence, and accountability.

Daniel Katwaroo

Daniel Katwaroo is a learning and organizational development leader with more than 20 years of experience designing and leading transformative learning initiatives across the public sector, financial services, healthcare, automotive, and regulated industries. He specializes in learning strategy, transformational learning, leadership development, digital learning ecosystems, and organizational capability building.

Throughout his career, Daniel has led enterprise learning transformations, large-scale system implementation training initiatives, and competency-based development programs that support both organizational performance and learner growth. His work is grounded in the belief that learning should drive reflection, behaviour change, and meaningful transformation rather than simply knowledge transfer.

Daniel is currently completing a Master of Education in Leadership in Learning and is passionate about advancing ethical, human-centred leadership and the future of workplace learning.

Jean-Philippe Bradette

Jean-Philippe Bradette is a learning experience architect and edtech entrepreneur with more than twenty years in learning and development. He has worked with organizations across Canada and internationally, bringing evidence-informed practice to workplace learning and connecting it to real business results.

He co-founded Ellicom (now LCI Business Solutions) in 2005 and later Apprentx, where he serves as CEO. He completed the NextAI accelerator in 2019 and now helps L&D leaders make sense of artificial intelligence in their practice. He holds LTEM Gold certification in learning measurement. Jean-Philippe is a regular speaker on learning sciences, measurement, and AI in learning.

His governance experience includes chairing the Préma-Québec board and serving three years on the board of the Fonds de recherche du Québec, by appointment of the Government of Québec. He is also active in expanding inclusive opportunities in non-competitive sports for young people, a cause he cares about.

Jennifer Moon

Jennifer Moon is a senior leader in workforce intelligence, performance, and learning. She is dedicated to strengthening organizational capability through governance, strategic alignment, and evidence-based practice. As Director of Workforce Intelligence & AI Enablement at MHS, she leads enterprise initiatives that integrate strategy, skills, and execution. This work enables more adaptive, data-informed decision-making across the organization.

She brings extensive governance experience, having led enterprise portfolio management frameworks across North America and Europe. She has served on multiple boards at the provincial and municipal levels. Her leadership reflects a strong commitment to stewardship, accountability, and community impact.

An active I4PL member, Jennifer is a recognized speaker and thought leader, advancing practical, forward-looking approaches to performance, learning, and the future of work.

Naveen Venna

Naveen Venna is a Learning and Development leader with over 15 years of experience in leadership development, talent management, learning strategy, and organizational capability building. Currently working with Give & Go Prepared Foods in Canada, he leads initiatives focused on developing people, strengthening leadership capability, and fostering continuous learning cultures.

Naveen brings a global perspective shaped by professional experience across India and North America. Prior to Give&Go, Naveen has experience working with Loblaws, Beiersdorf and PepsiCo. He is passionate about inclusive workplaces, emerging technologies, and the evolving intersection of AI, leadership, and workforce development.

Obaro Aziza

Obaro Aziza, CTDP, CHRL, PMP, is a leadership executive and talent development strategist with experience spanning the CPG, consulting, and fintech sectors. He is recognized for aligning business operations with human-centered learning strategies, designing and leading scalable leadership development initiatives that deliver measurable organizational impact.

Known for championing ethical practice and evidence-based approaches, Obaro brings a thoughtful and strategic perspective to organizational change, leadership development, and workforce capability building. Passionate about advancing the Canadian performance and learning profession, he is committed to fostering accountability, strengthening professional standards, and contributing to the future of workplace learning through active community engagement and strategic stewardship.

Patricia Okorie

Patricia Okorie is a Learning and Development Strategist and professional development coach with extensive experience designing and delivering learning solutions across the public service, academia, the private sector, and nonprofits. With a PhD in the sciences and a Master of Education, she brings both analytical rigour and a deep understanding of how adults learn to every learning solution she designs. Her work spans instructional design, organizational learning and professional coaching, always with a focus on designing learning experiences that drive real behaviour change and lasting performance outcomes.

Patricia is the founder of Next Degree Coaching and Consulting, specializing in strategic learning solutions and career transition coaching. She is passionate about empowering those whose potential is often overlooked. This commitment is reflected in her volunteer work with organizations supporting marginalized communities, including women rebuilding their professional lives and reclaiming their voices after domestic violence.

Robin Martin

Robin Martin, CTDP, FLPI, MBA is a global performance solutions architect with over 25 years of experience helping organisations strengthen capability, improve performance, and drive behavioural change. She has led large‑scale learning, leadership, and organisational development initiatives across Canada, the UK, Europe, and Southeast Asia, partnering with clients to align learning strategies with business goals and deliver measurable impact.

Robin is co‑author of the I4PL Competencies for Performance and Learning Professionals© and has served for many years as Chair of the Certification Committee. She also serves as an Accreditation Mentor and facilitates the Performance Consulting Masterclass with the Learning and Performance Institute.

Robin brings deep expertise in performance consulting, capability frameworks, leadership development, and AI‑enabled learning innovation. She now lives in Spain, but her love of the profession keeps her connected and keen to serve the I4PL
