The professional responsibilities I4PL members commit to in their work with learners, clients, colleagues, and the profession.
The recovered code sets a standard of personal integrity, professional competence, confidentiality, and discretion for I4PL members.
Responsibilities to learners
Members support human rights, equity, dignity, and respect; keep current with the profession; understand learner needs; provide accurate information; and make reasonable accommodation for disability.
Responsibilities to the profession
Members act in the profession’s best interest, follow applicable law and copyright restrictions, acknowledge original work, avoid improper personal gain, and report verified ethical breaches.
Responsibilities to other members and certification
Members protect the profession’s reputation, pursue professional growth, respond promptly to I4PL communications, and maintain membership in good standing where certification requires it.
Responsibilities to clients
Members protect client privacy, provide services they are qualified to deliver, disclose conflicts, communicate honestly, avoid unrealistic expectations, and establish a shared understanding of assignment scope and costs before accepting work.
