Continuing education
Developing learning and development skills and knowledge: conferences, seminars, webinars, self-directed learning and professional development courses.
To maintain your CTDP designation you must keep your I4PL membership active and in good standing, and submit a professional development log every three years for two consecutive three-year cycles. After the second log (year six), certified members are exempt from submitting further logs, and certification is maintained on payment of annual membership dues.
Each log records 60 continuing education credits (CEUs) earned within the three-year period, submitted before the third anniversary of certification. One hour of professional development is one credit, across three categories:
Developing learning and development skills and knowledge: conferences, seminars, webinars, self-directed learning and professional development courses.
Teaching or presenting at a conference, developing a new program to increase the skills of others, research and publishing.
Active participation in I4PL at the Board or chapter level, mentoring, conference volunteering, and skills developed through specific experiences.
Professional development is intended to enhance the ongoing development of certified members, contribute to new knowledge, reinforce the essential knowledge and skills of the profession, and develop the new skills and practices that lead it.
Record your 60 CEUs for each three-year cycle online, in the member portal. Your entries are reviewed by the certification team.
Open your logSign in to the member portal and open Certification. Add each activity with its date, category and credits; the certification team reviews every entry. Please do not send certificates, logs or payment information through the public website.
Your designation stays current while your membership is active and your professional development log is up to date. If your membership expires, or a log is not submitted by its due date, the designation lapses and your name is removed from the public registry of certified members. A membership expired six months or more is charged the new-member administration fee of $50.
Certified members whose membership has been expired a year or more and who wish to be reinstated pay $50 for each year, and submit a CV covering the lapsed period and a professional development log for the three years before the application, to return to good standing.
You became certified in 2018 but did not submit the log due in 2021. Your designation lapsed in 2021. To reinstate it: pay your annual membership dues if you are not currently active, submit an updated CV, and submit a professional development log for the three-year period before the current year.
You became certified in 2018 but let your membership expire in 2019. Your designation lapsed in 2019. To reinstate it: pay your annual membership dues, pay $50 for each year to the present year, submit an updated CV, and submit a professional development log for the three-year period before your application.
