Lighten Up Your Learning

I4PL Research Committee · August 1, 2023 · 1 min read

If you’re sweltering and longing for a touch of breeziness, here are some (research-related!) ideas:

  • Do some beach reading, maybe Confessions of a Corporate Trainer by Jonathan Halls (the easiest reading you’ll ever do about spaced practice).
  • Play a game! Scattergories, charades, whatever. Playing games can help you learn how they work, so you can choose and adapt games to use in training. Gamification can be more than leaderboards!
  • Go for a walk outside or take a 15-minute dance break. There’s good evidence that even a short burst of exercise can help learning. Consider how you could work more movement into training sessions.
  • Watch a funny cat video (and learn about Gagne’s 9 events of instruction).

What works for you to lighten things up in L&D, without losing sight of the science?  If you are an I4PL member, sign in to comment on this post!
