Job Bank wage data for the occupation most learning and development roles fall under, with low, median and high by province.
Salary is rarely the whole offer. Put both offers side by side, count everything that has a dollar value, and see what you are really being paid before you answer.
Your numbers are calculated entirely in this browser and never leave your device, unless you choose to email yourself a copy below.
Fill in what you know. Leave anything blank and it counts as zero. The second column is optional: use it for your current role or a competing offer.
Working days a year: 260 (52 weeks of 5 days). Vacation and personal days are valued at your daily rate, base salary divided by 260. Commuting is subtracted, prorated to the weeks you actually work after time off. Bonus is counted at the confidence you choose. Commute time is shown as hours, not dollars; the value of your time is yours to judge.
Equity is the hardest number to estimate honestly. Use your best estimate of annual vesting value. When in doubt, use a conservative figure or leave it blank.

I4PL does not publish salary figures it cannot stand behind. These are the public Canadian sources that do, updated by the federal government and free to search by province.

Where learning sits inside a people function, this is often the closer comparison for pay bands.
The people who know what a role pays in your city are the ones doing it. Chapter events and the member directory are the fastest route to a candid answer.
When base salary is fixed by a band, these often are not. Each one has a dollar value you can put in the calculator above.
An extra week is roughly two per cent of salary. Days in the office have a real commuting cost attached to them.
A named annual budget, conference attendance, and certification fees and maintenance paid. Put it in writing rather than in goodwill.
A title that matches the work, and a salary review at six months rather than twelve, are often easier to approve than a higher starting number.
A signing amount can bridge a gap the band cannot. A later start date can be worth real money if you are between roles.
Who you report to and what you own shapes your next role more than this one's salary does.
If it matters, it belongs in the letter. Verbal commitments do not survive a change of manager.
